Why Your Favorite Color Matters

Why Your Favorite Color Matters

Tiktok psychologists LOVE to "debunk" the fact that your favorite color matters. To their credit, the viral tiktok videos that get traction are super dumbed down and very child-like in presentation, so credit where credit is due in that there are way more facets to our personal favorite colors than those viral tiktok videos present in their 30 second videos. I am here to tell you that your favorite color DOES matter.

Have you ever noticed that you are drawn to certain colors when it comes to your wardrobe? Perhaps you find yourself consistently gravitating towards shades of pink or black, or maybe you prefer more earthy tones like brown and green. While your color preferences may seem like a matter of personal taste, they can actually reveal quite a bit about your personality and style. Could you swap wardrobes with your best friend? Adjusting for size, chances are you would take a few pieces but it just wouldn't your vibe. One of the huge contributors to vibe is color.

Let’s take a look at some pop culture examples to demonstrate the power of color in wardrobe choices.

Elle Woods from Legally Blonde is known for her love of all things pink. Her wardrobe is filled with shades of blush, fuchsia, and bubblegum, which reflects her feminine, bubbly, and playful personality. Even in more serious moments, Elle incorporates pink into her wardrobe, showing that it’s a core part of her identity.

On the other end of the spectrum is Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. Her all-black wardrobe is a reflection of her dark, brooding, and mysterious personality. Black is a timeless color that represents sophistication, elegance, and rebellion, all of which align with Wednesday’s personality.

Elle Woods and Wednesday Addams simply could not swap wardrobes. It just wouldn't work for either person!

Lets take another polar opposite pair:

David Schitt from Schitt’s Creek is another character with a distinct color preference. His wardrobe is predominantly black and white, reflecting his minimalist and chic style. David is known for his sarcastic wit and dry humor, which is also reflected in his wardrobe. Black and white are classic, timeless colors that convey sophistication and simplicity, which align with David’s personality and style.

Finally, we have Mike Baxter from Last Man Standing, who often wears earthy tones like brown, green, and beige. These colors are associated with nature, stability, and reliability, which align with Mike’s practical and down-to-earth personality. Mike’s style is casual, comfortable, and utilitarian, which is reflected in his wardrobe choices.

Color choices matter!

These pop culture examples demonstrate that color choices in wardrobe are not just about personal taste, but also reflect aspects of one’s personality and style. By understanding the psychology of color, you can use it to your advantage when selecting clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable. So, the next time you’re shopping for clothes, pay attention to the colors that catch your eye – they might just reveal something about yourself that you didn’t know before.

Is there someone in Hollywood you WOULD swap wardrobes with? Fictional or real person - gimme the tea!
